eTwinning European Conference, Seville

Schoolovision wins its 3rd major European Award!

eTwinning celebrated its 5th birthday in style in Seville at the weekend, with around 520 teachers from all over Europe attending the annual conference there.

For Schoolovision 2009, it marked the 3rd chapter in a fantastic run of victories, which started in Rome at the Global Junior Challenge where the project won 1st prize, last October.
Then, the project was entered into the eLearning Awards, held in Vilnius last November, and the project won 1st prize again, this time in the category of "Best Cross Border Collaboration in Europe."

Finally, the project was entered into the eTwinning Awards, and it was a memorable weekend for the 17 partners who made it to Seville, as Schoolovision again emerged victorious, this time in the category of "Most Creative Use of Digital Media."

Members of the team gather in Seville after a memorable conference.

For me as the creator of the project, it was undoubtably my proudest moment of all, as I was able to meet many of the partners who have worked with me over the past year, and who have made the project so successful.

Watch the team members who were in Seville accepting the prize.

Now, it's time to concentrate on Schoolovision 2010 as we aim to do it all again, with the contest coming to a climax in May, when the new champions will be announced.

Thank you to all 30 partners, for helping make this such a wonderful experience!

Michael

Schoolovision was entered into the eLearning Awards 2009, and we were delighted to hear that it had been shortlisted as one of the top 50 projects, and forwarded to the final Awards Ceremony, which was held in Vilnius, Lithuania on 26th November 2009.

The Lithuanian partner, Aurelija Dirginciene, represented the team at the awards, and the great news was that Schoolovision was declared as the winner in the category "Best Cross Border Cooperation in Europe"!

The prize for this award-winning performance was a cheque for 1000 Euros, a digital camcorder and a lovely trophy!

Taking the trophy to Brno, Czech Republic!

As the organiser of Schoolovision, today I had the most wonderful moment of the whole project- I visited the winning school, ZS Husova, in Brno, the second largest city of the Czech Republic, to meet the children who won the competition, along with their teachers, and to present them with the Schoolovision trophy, to mark their fantastic piece of work.

It was a real pleasure, and I want to thank all those who welcomed me to the school, the children who performed the winning song once again for me, and the others, such as the Mayor of Brno and the Deputy Minister for Education in the Czech Republic, who all spent time with the children, listening to how they plotted their victory!

With the Schoolovision 2009 champions!

Germany - Es ist Sommer

This song is about summer.
During the Flashmeetings we have learned that we live in hot and cold countries. In the entries we can see children having a lot of fun in the snow as well as on the beach.
This nicely goes along with our song where it says:
"It doesn't matter whether you are hot or cold,
for summer is what's going on in your head".

We very much enjoy being part of this project
and we're looking forward to the voting.

Here is the Irish entry singing their National Anthem Amhrán na bhfiann- The Soldiers Song and playing their tin whistles. We hope you enjoy it!

Schoolovision Welsh Entry

This is a traditional Welsh song called "Sosban Fach". The song catalogues the troubles of a harassed housewife. It is sung a lot at Rugby matches, especially when the Lanelli Scarlets are playing! We really enjoyed singing it, especially the Oi! Oi!. You should all join in with this part.

Hwyl!
